Tension Control

Conference Week 2010

Date:
06/07/2010

Training on the fundamentals of web processing can be as fun as attending the Kentucky Derby! This year, attendees came to Louisville this year to sharpen their knowledge on web alignment, slitting, winding/unwinding and of course tension control. Each day offered an in-depth look at the principles of one aspect of web handling.

Watch clips from the training that occurred last month in Louisville.

Topics include:

What is the best nip control?
How do I know if my tension control is working well?
Why doesn’t my machine start and stop gracefully?
How do I know if winding caused my defect?
What is the best winding tension?

Taper and Web Tension Technology

When do you need taper tension and just how do you apply it? In this e-seminar, Darrell Whiteside of MAGPOWR provides an easy-to-understand overview of the tension process and gets into some of the latest technologies on how to implement proper tension on a process line.

College of Tension (a Conference Week Event)

Date:
06/07/2010

Unit 1: Basics of Web Tension Control
A comprehensive guide to the theory and types of control systems available on the market today, touching on the configurations best suited for various applications. Fundamentals of Magnetic Particle and Load Cell technology will be emphasized.

Unit 2: Dancer Control Theory

Considerations when changing web material

Join four industry expert panelists as they discuss the trials and techniques of changeover when dealing with ever-changing materials and increasingly shorter runs.

These days, to stay competitive you have to run multiple variations of material at increasingly shorter runs to turn a profit. To maintain consistent, high-quality output, there are adjustments that need to be made on the unwind through tension, alignment, slitting setup and possibly even the rewind.
